Ischia
What once had been considered as Capri’s less-glamorous sibling has become that new hot place to go. With its proximity to Naples, you can see influences in the cuisine and, dare I say, the pizza here is one of the best I’ve ever had.
O’Pignattello
An elegant restaurant in the heart of Lacco Ameno that’s owned by a young couple. Many call this their favorite restaurant on the island and, after a meal there, that includes myself. The menu puts a sophisticated twist on traditional dishes made with local ingredients. They also have a very well-curated wine list, including some fantastic Champagnes. Incredible service from start to finish!
Dani Maison
The only 2 Michelin star restaurant on the island, Dani Maison is where you want to go for a special evening. Starting off with apertivi in the garden with a glass of Champagne, they then lead you indoors to your table for the most fantastic tasting menu. Each course is a work of art from Chef Nino de Constanzo. There is also a great wine list that boasts many of Europe’s top wineries.
Saturnino
A lively and romantic restaurant in Forio. If you love seafood, this is your spot. You can choose a tasting menu (and let them surprise you) or also order à la carte.
Terra E Sapori
Traditional Ischian fare. Very casual, authentic restaurant surrounded by vineyards, just inland from Forio. Note that it’s not walkable from Forio and you will need a car or taxi to get there, but well worth it! Order their complete antipasti plate (because everything is amazing), and end with the owner’s own digestif. Buon appetito!

The Hotels
Mezzatorre Hotel & Thermal Spa (pictured)
If there is one “IT” hotel in Italy right now, it would be Mezzatorre. After being acquired by the iconic Il Pellicano Hotel group in 2019, they completely renovated and refurbished the property. The outdoor aesthetics boast a 16th century watchtower and a stunning pool set along the sparkling Tyrrhenian Sea. This is low-key glam at its very best.
San Montano Resort & Spa
A quick two-minute drive just east of Mezzatorre, this sprawling hotel stands guard overlooking 270 degrees, from East to South to West. San Montano boasts five (yes, five!) panoramic pools.
Pro tip: book one of the Infinity Pool rooms - there are only a few bi-level suites on the property that have access to a private infinity pool looking west into the sunset. Order a bottle of local Ischia Biancolello wine, sit back, sip and watch the sun set in its splendor. This is the definition of la dolce far niente.
Albergo della Regina Isabella
If you prefer a 5 Star hotel in the middle of town, Regina Isabella delivers all the old world glamour. Opened in 1956 by Italian producer Angelo Rizzoli, the hotel has been graced by the presence of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, as well as Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable, to name a few. Located in the charming village of Lacco Ameno, Regina Isabella is great for being centrally located and within walking distance to beaches, restaurants, shops and more.

“I first heard of Ischia from Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan Series, My Brilliant Friend, and became obsessed with visiting this still relatively under-the-radar island one day. In early 2019, I learned of the iconic Il Pellicano Group’s acquisition of the stately Mezzatorre Hotel, so with my love of exquisite hotels, as well as wanting to live out my own Ischian summer adventures, this seemed like the perfect base to explore this beautiful island. Once you go, it’s that place you can’t wait to tell your friends about. Ischia truly has unique luxury accommodations with plenty of charm. This tiny island has it all - with beaches, wineries, thermal springs, botanical gardens, and even its own castle.”
